PH INDICATOR

The first indicator, pH indicates the acidity-alkalinity of the organic fertilizers and soils.

When the pH of the soils is below 6, the soils are acidic and affect badly to the plants.

If the pH of the soils is between 4-5 or below 4, the soils are stronger acidic. Then the plant diseases such as root rot from Phytophthora sp. can occur to the plants.

The good organic fertilizers should have the neutral pH, that is 7.

C/N Ratio

The third indicator is the C/N Ratio in the fertilizer.

The C/N Ratio indicates the complete fermentation of the organic fertilizers. The C/N Ratio of the organic fertilizers with complete fermentation does not exceed 20:1. When the incomplete fermented organic fertilizers are used, they ferment further in the soil by using the nitrogen in the breakdown process. This may cause the nitrogen deficiency in plants.
